Hunger Games Review

I was hesitant to see this with a few bad water cooler reviews, but ya know how I am right? I must see/do/be for myself out of curiousity! First let me say that  I like the name Catness far more than Kitten so Im pinching it! Theres a few pair new age shoes in there I want too!
I must be among the few who havent read the series so I was not disappointed at all. Quite the opposite in fact. I had one good scare, one good cry,and one good chuckle. Not a big deal, but good enough. I was a bit off on predictability, but damned close. Catness is cool. Stunning young beauty I say. This concept is rather barbaric and odd, but interesting? It kept my attention anyway. I may have to learn to shoot a bow and arrow. Not.
I had a great evening out with friends so THAT was awesome alone! I wish That I could get the books on audio and get ahead of the game. Good flick.

The Vow

Very touching film! Believeable for me totally:) I didnt think I would like a sappy movie, but I did indeed. And frankly, I havent like one since the Notebook! ( which in some ways this reminded me of....) This was based on a true story, and God bless that patient Man!
Rachel was far better an actor in this than she was in Wedding Crashers. I think she is just adorable. But.. sure made me feel old. Actually, I have been having far too many de ja vu's at the theatre. I should stop going. On the other hand, not much isnt recalling memories, so be it... Roll with it right?
Heres a tip: One really shouldnt go to see a smoochie love film on Valentines day without a Valentine in tow! I had June. We had fun. But...Jis sayin`......

We had a great time for dinner at Cal Terra. They may have thought we were a COUPLE? Our names were even printed on our menu! Hysterical fun for sure! Couple A Quilters we are!!!

Safe House-Movie View

Alert the media! Twice in one month??? Theres hope for my dumbass!I enjoyed the film, and  I'll tell you why.
I very much likened it to a new and exciting episode of 24!!!

Dirty CIA operatives, and of course rouge denzel, convincing the newbie reynolds he is near the same fate. I was on the edge of my seat and had I had any popcorn I am sure it would have been in the air several times. I so like a movie that doesnt allow me to predict the very next scene. Twists and turns all over keeping me like i said, on the edge not only phsyically but mentally as well! One of my favorite Denzel traits is his ability to show me "thinking" while quiet.I can see his wheels turning, and in this film, try as I may, I couldnt predict that thought process at all. I didnt hold much hope for reynolds, but damed if he didnt pull of a good supportive roll. Unlike many reviews, I say Kudos for entertaing me!

One For The Money

"I care not what others think of what I do,
but I care very much about what I think of what I do!
That is character."

– Theodore Roosevelt

ONE STAR, cause her leading man is cute!

One for the Money  has Katherine Heigl playing Stephanie Plum, a recent divorcĂ©e who returns to her New Jersey hometown, finds inexperianced work as a bail bondsman, and is soon on the hunt for the gruffy fugitive who took her virginity on the floor of a local bakery some 15 years earlier.
Directed by Grey's Anatomy vet Julie Anne Robinson. This is as  dumb as romantic-comedies get. THEE only thing that I enjoyed was her co star leading man  Mel Gibson type, Jason O'Mara.  I believe that they could actually be related! He plays "Morelli" The ultimate 50 thousand dollar capture. ( Whom is the love interest). I was told that this is based on a series of books. Books I shall not buy.

Heres my question.
Where have all the good westerns gone?
Where is Clint when I need him? Tommy Lee Jones? Robert Duvall? Sam Elliot?
RUSSELL CROWE!!!
John Wayne I miss you. I would even love to watch an entire film on the Marlboro Man as opposed to the likes of poorly made romantic comedies.
Sorry? Just saying?
I L.O.V.E. comedy, I'll leave now and go find one. Until my Marlboro Man shows up.

Twilight Saga

A little late, but I finally am up to speed with the Twilight series! Go me! My Sis just KNEW that I would like it, no matter how many times I told her that I had absolutley no interest in Vampires and Wolves. She is just trying ever so hard to distract my mind and heart for awhile, however little it is. Thanks Sis. So... I was mistaken! Totally investied in the series I watched three, back to back and now I'm hunting a movie buddy to take me to see BREAKING DAWN.
WOW! How entertaining was this??? Not reality mind you, but darned good entertainment! I think I will call my Baby Grand "Bella" Now! ( her middle name) I just heard about the MOST popular baby names this decade and of course all of the Twilight people rule. Jake, Edward, Bella, Charlie...etc....
I personally think Bella should have gone back home long ago, but then where would the series be right? I am still stuck on the whole no blood inside of a vampire anyway. I mean... no juices inside? Ya cant do that! Theres no lovemaking without blood, come onnnnnn
Oh yeh, fiction entertainment, I forgot. I nearly ralph everytime one is killed and thier bones break and resemble a mannikin. Speaking of Mannikins.. I think I want one! yeah, A male one.. I'll call him Wilson and stick him in the window. Dress him all metro-ish...or naked? My Bestie has one, her name is Eve... She's a looker too:) Oh! I'll call mine Adam!  I know what youre thinking... Oh Mister Wizardddddd G's gone round the bend.......
So.. who wants to go see Breaking Dawn with me?

ADDED Tonight: Awesome movie!! I went alone in celebration of finishing a big task. I did our new VIP Screening room. Complete with red rockers and wine. What a kick! The movie ( Breaking Dawn) didnt disappoint! WOW... WOW..., OKay, so I 'm hooked.
Wheres my cuppa blood?
Ewwwwww
PS: That dingy Bella totally made the wrong choice. Poor Jake.

Moneyball! Go "A's"

The main thing is to care. Care very hard, even if it is only a game you are playing."
– Billie Jean King

Its all about passion eh? Good morning:) I'm not awake, but I'm moving. Kinda. It's raining. grunt. WHY??? I just cant believe its started already. I'll make soup and it will all be good. Maybe the Italian Sausage soup? Hmmmm
Do you peoples know how much I like to go to the movies? Yep yep yep, I do. This week we had the fun of a baseball game in comfort! Moneyball didn't disappoint. I have always had a love /hate relationship with the A's. I cheer them on only to watch my favorite players to be traded up for more money. Then I have to BOO them on other teams. Not good. Anyway, I still have pendant after patches stashed for the quilt to beat all quilts. UFO am I! I wont say that the movie was great, but it was entertaining. It told a true story that I was actually privy to. I got a kick out of the economics geek more so that Brad Pitt! Its sad that its all about the money in the game. Its hopeful to see that its all about ones own passions as well. Moneyball gave me warm fuzzies and a real craving to go to a real game. A real "A's" game! I think next up is Happy Feet 2!!!
7:00 am... gotta move it! LYG!

X Factor Premier

Did you watch it? I couldn't wait to see Simon and Paula again:) That Pop star chicky Cheryl, sure is pretty eh?
What was that Siamese character about? And they said yes? :::Shiver:::: I went to bed scratching things.. however, entertaining it was. I cant figure out how in the world they filter those thousands of people who turned out to audition! Wow, what a job!
SIDENOTE: I'm sitiing here reflecting on the show..sipping my first cuppa... HURTING from the punishing walks I'm taking daily. Everyday I SO dont want to go... but I go... I hope I go everyday. But not today. Cause I hurt. But I'm going. Grunt.
Okay I'm back.
I hurt last night too... during the show... oh jeez...did you just feel like a pooch wanting to break out into a HOWL a few times??? Mercy.
I think the commercials beat the show! I am partial to great commercials though.
I'll give it some time, but I dont think LA Reid compared to the DAWG. I see they are trying to recreate his personna eh? Still, it was good to see the dynamic dou together again:)
Today I have the nerve conduct test. I'm in hopes that someone can turn off my toes! Have a great day blog readers, I'm in the shower!

Guess Who Finally Watched...................

How To Make An American Quilt? I see you shaking you're head. WTF was I doing in 1995 anyways??? Why am I always behind in movie views??This one takes the cake though..I mean really G..... No wait.. I think it took me longer to see The Joy Luck Club! LOLOL

There's much more to a quilt than fabric and thread .But we quilters already knew this eh? Each  design has its own unique story (or stories) to tell. All the sorrows, joys, longings, sufferings, and loves of these women are sewn into their quilt and, as their bittersweet memories are given life, one young woman applies these lessons of the past to her own uncertain future.
"Where Love Resides":::SIGH:::( Best line)
How to Make an American Quilt presents a distinctly feminine perspective. The "chick flick" to beat all chick flicks. The "quilting bee" consists of seven stitchers. Sisters Gladys (Ann Bancroft) and Hy (Ellen Burstyn); Sophia (Lois Smith), a woman known for scaring kids; Emma (Jean Simmons), the timid wife of a perpetually unfaithful ( read: P.I. G.) man; Constance (Kate Nelligan), who has been having an affair with Emma's husband; Anna (Maya Angelou), the leader of the group;( Or at least the one who points) and Marianna (Alfre Woodard), Anna's daughter. The project they're busy with is the wedding quilt for Hy's granddaughter, Finn (Winona Ryder), who is about to enter into wedded bliss. Or not. She's spending the summer with Hy and Gladys, and away from her fiance, to decide whether a lifelong commitment is really what she wants, and whether it's better to marry a friend or a lover. ( I loved that question)
One of the greatest pleasures I had comes from watching flawless performances by a most impressive cast. The costumes and period settings were so exciting!. From Winona Ryder, Ann Bancroft, Ellen Burstyn, and Maya Angelou to minor players like Claire Danes, and Kate Capshaw, and this hunky guy I dont know the name of... this film is oozing talent. In fact...... There are probably too many characters. So, instead of really getting to know a few of them, we are presented with quick glimpses into a defining event in each of their lives. We learn about the resentment between Gladys and Hy, and are told the reasons why Emma stays with her husband and Sophia is so "pissy" all of the time. There are other episodes as well: the love of Anna's life, Marianna's never meant to be soul mate, and a look at the reasons why Constance had an affair with her friend's husband. ( remember the p.i.g.) The reason for these tales is meant to provide the answer for Finn's cold feet questions: whether to go forward with her marriage or fool around with a six pack smoldering hot Latin hunk.
I personally was left wanting much more of each woman's story.Sequel?
It made me smile inside validating every one of my sentiments on what a quilt is really all about. The story each one tells.Where love really does reside.
Totally inspiring to go in there and fling fabric everywhere trying to design the perfect story Quilt.
PS: I am almost certain that I was born in the wrong generation.

Country Strong Review NO Stars Here

What do you get when you mix EVERY wierd sterotypical thing about country western genre that you have ever heard of and mix it with a super good cast of characters?
COUNTRY STRONG!!

Oh Dear blog readers, believe me, if you are a CW "disliker", and joke about these sterotypes, you are about to be justified!!! All of them are present here except Mama, and YER DAWG! Yep yep yep.. even the train!
Now I gotta tell you that I am a long time "liker"of SOME CW music. I was country WAY back when, and then I decided that the whining slobbering sob stories needed to stop! I still enjoy some, but for the most part, I can leave it. Afterall, I have enough of a dang soap opera right here, I dont need to get a crying towel out to wallow in it with a brewski..
I'm so disappointed for Gwenyth Paltrow because she REALLY can sing! Tim McGraw, please keep singing instead of this K? The new cute kids... I wish you well and hope this didnt ruin your careers.Hey can you tell that I didnt enjoy this film at all? My poor Sis and I just cringed for 2 hours while stuffing popcorn in our pie holes rapidly as not to trash the movie aloud in public! Heres the bad news.. We were supposed to see True Grit!!!
To be fair, Jackie, 17 year old neice.. enjoyed the film. Her go to Genre is the likes of USHER... sooooooooo

In order to De-stress ones self, ya might try an afternoon matinee. I wont say that it worked..lol I'm still stressed! I was going to boil some eggs or make another soup or something, but decided getting out was a better idea. So we went, we saw, we had a bite to eat, we even hit a few favorite shopping holes for Valentines day!And now I'm entertaining a bubble bath.... grunt. ( somethings gotta work)

The movie? Well... Riveting! Awesome movie, and I'd like to see it again!

FROST-NIXON... Frank Langella.. wow... A great performance and so believable! It all boils down to 2 men, and a great dialog, confrontational, competitive, and REAL.

3:10 To Yuma: The Best Part?

WAS RUSSELL CROWE!!!!
I have seen many a western in 50 years and I gotta tell ya, THIS was not the best of them, BUT... WHO CARES? Russell Crowe is HOTTER THAN A PISTAL!
First, My Dad didnt allow anything on the tele BUT westerns... the likes of Big Valley, Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel, Ponderosa,The Rifleman... (WHY did they make so many back then) His hero went from Paladine to Clint Eastwood in my formative years. To come home and find Archie Bunker on the tele was a jump and run from my sister and me! Then.... flash forward to husbands who cant lay off the westerns.. Clint being the ultimate hero. How many times in ones lifetime must I watch 2 Mules for Sister Sarah? And enjoy it? GRUNT.
Not since Kurt Russell in Tombstone was a hotter acter. Until then, Clint indeed held the title. Even in a spaghetti western he was one tall drink of eye candy water:) a favorite of my own childrens...Lonesome Dove introduced me to Tommy Lee Jones and I still follow him closely, and of course, since Godfather days, Robert Duvall is an awesome actor!
Now, 2007.....3:10 to Yuma, ( remake of Dads original), was a bit of a disappointment in that it was so slow to begin with. What it was lacking in action, it made up for in filmology and sound, and yep yep yep... Good Looks! It didnt hook me, but you are a captured audience in theatre eh? So about an hour into it, I decided to stop wiggling in my seat and step away from the popcorn. The heat was on, and Russells career took a turn for goodness instead of the wicked man he really was. I for one, am on baited breath awaiting Novembers ( I predict Hit) release of American Gangster, with Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington!
If you get the chance to see 3:10, go see , you decide. I for one want more westerns... I cannot belive I just said that....tsk tsk .. nature vs nurture...tsk tsk tsk!
Its wine 30 at my house, and no work for me today. Ahhhhh
