To Whomever Lets Gossip Rule Their Lives
I DO NOT subscribe to negativitey. There is absolutley no room in my heart for it. Please keep your bad attitudes to yourselves and refrain from reading my blog to justify your gossip. I will not play the game. I DO NOT wish to shut down my blog because of a few unpeaceful idiots. My conscience is clear thanks, so mind your own business please.
The FIRST & LAST post on this subject.

MM-March is Here!
Virginia Satir
Sounds like Ma telling me that I was dealt a hand of cards, play them the best that I can. She sure loved playing cards...lol Smart Ma, I say. Heres the only flaw in this theory......... If one PLAYS the hand dealt them, never knowing when to "fold em", one must continue to handle the crap.
Don't fold cause that inside straight is just around the corner!
Dont fold theres another Ace just under the deck!
Dont fold ya gotta PLAY this hand out or you'll never know!
Good morning:) How was your week end? I tried to get some work done, didnt work out so well for me. I kinda got hung up with Mom stuff.......I didnt fold, I'll be trying again today! LOL
<----Sybil.
I have a busy month planned, and Im shoving more into it as we speak. It's a good plan.

Inspirations ARE There, Go Get 'Em.
So, it occurred to me that if one wants to keep the inspiration torch lit, one must stay with like minded peoples. My peoples. Today I did just that. I visited 2 local quilt shops, picked up a job, called a quilter friend, a quilter friend called me, then I went treadmill-ing a mile and a half next to a lady that quilts, ( who knew?) finally ending my day with the monthly guild meeting where I was warmly welcomed home from a 2 year sabbatical. This fed my spirit for the day and Lord knows I needed it. I was so excited I almost volunteered for everything! ( oh thank God I resisted, you know how that goes). I resumed my position with giving for The Caring Angels, and I had a wonderful time, and I ate a cookie. Grunt.
I would have eaten 2, but I was good and brought it home to Walt. ( bad influence eh?)
I think I have cookie issues. I want one right now. Maybe sugar calls sugar afterall? Ok, I digress.........
On my TO DO list this morning are all things quilty. I even called a Stitch N Bitch day next week and invited fellow bitchers, stichers. Wednesday, write it down, if you show up here, bring me a cookie.
Did you see that sweet girl on the Olympics who lost her Mother too and continued her ice skating performance in honor of her Mother? Another good inspiration, if she can do that, I sure can too!
For those of you that know our Heather, Sarah Bear, you may or may not know of her Step Sons Journey with Cystic Fibrosis. Another horrid disease. This young man, same age as my Son James has just received 2 beautiful disease free lungs and is breathing on his own. BREATHING on his own! I tell you this, because the next time I remind myself to "breath", and I feel that I just CANNOT.... I will think of Josh Mompean, and I WILL. :::thanks Josh:::
While its true that I really have had a BAD couple years....if I seek and find inspiration, I hold onto hope for the next breath, walk, day, week, month, and year.
'Scuse me now while I go eat a cookie create a quilt.
Love yer guts:)

What Went On Last Week? M & M
Oh! I found ( in stockton of all places) The perfect Bare root Cherry trees to plant in honor of Mom. I ordered 1 for Sis and Karen too. Mom's cherry fetish carried over to Karen, and these Bings are self fertilizing. Im so excited about this! My Sis, being Gardeness extrodinaire will love it too. Ya put cherries in front of Mom and she will eat them til she makes herself ill! Speaking of................
I think I caught a nasty bug. Kept me up all night and not doing so well this morning. Somethings trying to undermine my Gym nights eh? Not happening. I have a goal, remember? Owwwwwww
I think I will go waddle around figuring out my day. Have a Marvelous Monday Dear Blog Readers..............
* My Ipod to help me get thru the pain.
*A battle Buddy in the Gym
*A leaky washer hanging in there for me:)
*blood pressure meds!
* Plans, plans, plans.
*Mama memories, and cherry trees
*My John Mayer " Heart of Life" tee shirt to remind me.

Put Mama In The Trunk/ RE POST
I came across this story while seaching for a lost recipe... I thought about changing the channel, but it was such a fun time, I could not let it go without reposting.
I love requests! Heathers right, I should do requests! LOLOL
I decided to ask Mom to join me for a Road Trip to Beaver Utah, for a funeral a couple years back. I knew that she wouldn't be excited about going with me, so I sweetened the pot by bribing her with a detour to her sisters home in Las Vegas. Worked beautifully....or so I thought.
What in the world was I thinking starting out in CA, take Highway 80 to Salt lake, down to Beaver, and then shot over to Las Vegas... Piece of cake... MY FOOT! I think it turned out to be 1800 miles one way!! I don't remember now!!!
It began fine, chatting and singing, and gossiping about anyone who wasn't in the car.. (RULES)
Mom was seemingly happy, congenial if you will, but that didn't last very long. She soon began to periodically scold me for my speed. Now, I'm in the salt flats for Pete's sake, and a whistle clean driving record, but somehow I felt like Rainman, trying to convince her that I drive good in the driveway!
Mom is also diabetic, and ever watchful of the food clock. So of course, she spied any eating establishment we past, while watching her watch. (Now who's rainman eh?) I took very good care of her mind you, and I think she truly just needed to gripe a bit. So I thought, why not.... Sometimes, ya just gotta gripe. She was "on one" about a CD that she had forgotten to bring along, and wanted me to find a store to buy this CD.. Who was it.... ::thinkin:::Carmen? Gospel, I know...I'll keep thinking.. but I'm almost sure that's it.. How could I forget?
She wore me down. She made me do it.. made me tell her that if I HAD a trunk, she would surely be in it! ( I had a Road Ranger, no trunk) OMG You would have thought I started WW3. Now the griping turned UGLY....and I was reminded of everything she did for me as a child , including 32 hours of labor and delivery, That time I got my sisters toes caught in the spokes of my bike.... and everything wrong I had ever done as a teenager. What a fun ride.... I laughed alot, and so did she.. we passed the time and it was all a good thing. We had a wonderful hotel stay mid way and the pool relaxed her quite a bit. And.. we found her beloved CD... THE ONLY ONE IN THE CAR ( ahh u are with me eh? THE only one in the car... smooth move..NOT)
Our time in Beaver was pleasant. So good to see family and old friends. I'm sure Mom was delighted daily. However, she was ON THE CLOCK, to get to Las Vegas , to her sisters. In hindsight, I think now that she was in a hurry to get everywhere? Maybe, Home? I got in trouble big time stopping for lunch in St George to see my cousin there... wow... but then she did have good fun gossiping about that side of the family, from St George into Las Vegas.
Finally... She is in her sisters arms, and I feel victorious! They marched hand in hand looking so darn cute from behind, to bingo halls, casinos on the strip, restaurants on every block for 3 days. At which time Mom says to me.. " Gina? I think we need to hit the road.. I need to get home!" Alrighty then Ma.... get in the trunk! ( I got smacked)
Little did I know that there was a huge storm coming in over the Tehachepe mountains...WHILE they were doing road construction, AND... it was getting dark. But hey, I am woman right? I can do this. We had Carmen in the CD player, and that's all we needed.. so said Mom. (her version of Jesus takes the wheel?) Help me......
Mom sang, and prayed aloud while I battled the mountain, the buckets of rain, and the defroster that just wasn't cutting the mustard. My hands were white knuckled and sweaty... but we were going for it! Now Mom wants a hotel, she is tired of fighting this battle... Have you ever seen a hotel either side of Barstow? I couldn't find one, but then again, it was flooding around me. I told her to continue singing, or the trunk was going to be a makeshift reality. She laughed, and sang louder, while she said you damn well better find a hotel Gina. OMG.. she slays me!
No hotel, no restaurants, just falling rocks and water. The windshield wipers full blast, just like the fans and Carmen..... I had to get over the mountain, and that's that. Every once in awhile, I raised my hand to the dashboard, over the defrosting fan, to dry my sweaty palms. Just a little Queens wave to help me keep a grip on the wheel u know? I noticed that Mom was doing the same as me every couple minutes. She continued to sing, and to pray aloud. This Carmen CD was working on my last nerve, and I LIKE gospel tunes!
I finally couldn't TAKE IT ANYMORE, and asked Mom.... "Mom? Why in the heck are you drying your hands like me?" She looked at me, quite seriously, and said "Gina... I thought we were praising the Lord together with a show of our hands raised and waving to our Father?"
I began to laugh until I cried, and then I laughed and cried even more.... She is now so mad at me I think she is fuming out of her ears. I couldn't even stop the car on this mountain, cause I couldn't see through the rain OR the tears!
Finally down... looking for a freeway, she called me a wierdo. (like that's news) I never told her that she was mistaken about my hand over the fan. I couldn't tell her. She KNOWS that God got us over that mountain, and that's that.
Bakersfield was the only thing I could find, a seedy motel, that we weren't happy about, but spent. Mom griped and griped, and I just pulled her into a room... at the door, she spied a poorly dressed female at the top of the stairs, and said OMG GINA, we need to keep praying, I think this is a place for business other than sleeping. I said shhh Mom please don't say anything. She said well, (LOUDLY) "WHAT ARE THEY DOING UP THERE??? I will if they bother me, and you cant stop me." I said Ma.... theres a makeshift trunk, a wet lonely road, and 4 hours to drive home... you choose. She got in the room, blocked the door with a chair, and complained that there was no CD player for Carmen to sing to us.
To this day, Mom tells anyone who listens about Gina wanting to put her Mother in the trunk
To this day I tell anyone who listens that my Mother prayed us over the Tehachepes. Via defrosters.

Side note: She still calls once inwhile to say.... "Gina? ::whining::....I miss our trip we took, Ya done good Buttercup."I roll my eyes and say, you know Ma... me too...

Goals
It's a bit difficult, I KNOW, to try to set goals, think positive, BE happy when I'm feeling grief, (cause grief seems to be my middle name eh) but without this, IMHO, I would surley perrish. I realize that I am more scatter brained than usual, and it not easy to even REACH a small goal. I keep making goals, and scratching them out making new ones just as fast. But at least I'm still making them. So I guess the above quote COUNTS for me.
I have lost 5 pounds and my energy levels are up. 1/4th of the way to health goal number 1. ( woohoo!) The hard part is not playing the records in my head that undermine my attitude. Records of missing my James so much I ache constantly, or not hearing a "ya done good Buttercup" from Ma. I clic the remote channels so much its just ridiculous. Mufasa says that I am a very strong woman, I say I am a faker. We both agree that I fake it til I make it, and the perception is strength.
Today my goal is to make it to the gym, so I can flip thru my new quilt magazine on the treadmill while faking the fact that I am in no pain. grunt. I took yesterday off to heal, as my "heels" are barking loudly!
I am happy that I am a goal setter, I just wish I could reach more these days.

Great Customers
I have mentioned time and time again how wonderful my chosen profession is eh? THEE best community in the world. From Family and friends, to colleagues and computer associates.. Customers and Quilt shop owners. I am truly among the Olympians of professions. The best one being my hugest fan Mufasa...I dunno how he deals with my wierdness of late. Anyway.... My customers have not only waited for me, but care about me and mine too. I am so blessed I tell ya. So very blessed. I am working hard to get back to working hard. Make sense? I think today may be the day. Getting the house back in order, all calls returned, appointments made. SHEESH what a chore. Did I tell you that my Ginny got matted over this last journey of mine? Yep yep yep... Shes going for dreadlocs now.. ( on list, call groomer, shave her down!) Oh crap I didnt unpack the last suitcase... wheres the list?
On the Gym front: Oh Lord I am in PAIN! There, I've said it. There isnt a muscle in my body that isnt screaming for a hot tub. :::put on list of goals to save for::: I must tell you that this couldnt have been better timed. The winter Olympics are on daily and an awesome inspiration! I hear all the stories and tell myself to stop whining!! Isnt it funny how we want instant gratification and it just doesnt happen in weight loss? It took me a decade to get HERE... back HERE. I figure this may be my last shot at it... Soon I wont be able to do those darn excercises. Although, you wouldnt believe the seniors in the fitness club absolutley DUSTING me on everything! Really embarrassing too. It's one thing to see a 20 something year old "Bambi" running with a glow, next to my schvitzy liesure walk, or using the HAMMER ab crunch while I try to get the belly bar over my belly on the baby ab machine... but I feel about 3 inches tall next to the lil old lady pressing 75 pounds on the pectoral fly at lightning speed next to my lil knee Squezzer. GRUNT.
Now as you can see I am trying to share here... not be chicken little... I know theres a chance of failure... I dont see that.. but hey.. I have learned never to say never! So just smile and pray for me... you can even cheer me on. ::::PLZ::: Just dont beat me up too bad when I discuss that bag of Cheetos in the cupboard. Gawd I didnt really say that did I?
Ok, I'm off.. I'm running....lol BS, I'm just off!

TOO Much For A Tuesday
It's 7:00 AM, Do you know where YOUR gym clothes are? I am too overwhelmed, too sad, too confuddled, too asleep... just TOO, to get to the gym yet:( ( stomping my feet inside my head). How do I do this?
I hunted and gathered for the last half hour. I've got the list pad, the coffee, the pen, the news on, computer up....chit. :::I would love one more "down day".
On my list is to unpack the car contents. omg... a mess itself. I brought home Mom's sewing basket and it holds her last WIP ( work in progress). Its her last quilt top, embroidered... and I'm afraid to look at it, touch it, and yep...finish it for her. But I will.
Oh shoot... Ill be back to edit with a pic when I can....
For now please enjoy with me our Mothers song for her slide show presentation.... Sajina.. it means MY BELOVED (Hindu)
I will get my GO TO GUY to show you her slideshow when I ( he) can.
I gotta change the channel...CLIC

Ya Cant Have The Dream Without The Drive, M & M's
Panic hasnt set in yet because I feel mch like a dish rag! I got home on Valentines Evening to a warm welcoming from Mufasa, Ginny and Rudy. All lonesome and patiently waiting. As expected I am still lounging around catching up on emails, messages, facebook and winter Olympics! Seems like everytime my mind wanders to "what do I do first?" I quickly divert my attention back to lounging..lol. :::Bad girl:::
I have been MIA round here 5 weeks, save 1. Mind boggling. I have a non stop absent minded urge to pick up the phone and call Ma to tell her that I made it home ok, as I always have. My Sis suggested that I call Dad, but it just wouldnt be the same would it? Grunt.
Hows blog land? Whats everyone been busy with? Thanks so much for all of your comments, prayers, well wishes and emails. Its very nice to go back and re read over and over again.
I am planning my own personal Bucket List. Mine wont be by the time I kick the bucket, mine will be how much I can STUFF in a bucket each year. Maybe I should create a real bucket and begin filling it... hmmmmmm.
Since 2010 is breathing down my neck, I got out the clipboard. hey! We can call it the Bucket board! okay!
First on the list is to get back to my own DQL ( daily quality of life) Remember those days? Seems like a wierd journey ago dear blog readers... a long time ago. OK... DQL... Fit in my fifties? I'll take it. Walt being ever so supportive of the Pied Pipper Plans bought a membership to a local Gym for Valentines....kinda funny eh? Kinda nice:) He worries about me too. I'm very nervous about it. To be honest.. the last time I did this, was fit at 40 and one of the hardest things I ever did. It changed my entire life. Not sure if I can A: do it all again, B: do it correctly this time, C: Stay fit cause theres no fit at 60 cute sayings. Via Con Dios eh?
I am making plans for a few trips as well...the big one being to get back on the horse so to speak and get to Montreal, get to Blima. I must tell you that I've not been able to stray far from home since the Hawaii trip. Its something that must be done, I feel I'm doomed to squash my own travel dreams, if I do not. Jamie too, was a happy travelor and would not cotton to my homebodyness of late.:::clic:::
I am off to check on my crazy facebook things.. Have a Marvelous Monday:)
* A beautiful Service honoring our Mother
* A great family
* Safe driving home without too many melt downs
* Happy homecoming
*Having a much needed FLYBY visit with Heather
* A plan
*The drive to go with the dream

A Bittersweet Marvelous Monday
Ruth Coble
March 17, 1927- February 7, 2010
At the age of 83 Mom was welcomed into heaven after a courageous battle with Cancer. Residing in Auburn California, Ruth was a happy homemaker and in years past a seamstress by trade. She enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing, and playing poker or Rummy with her grandchildren. She and her husband enjoyed RVing and treasure hunting. Her hobbies included Movie Nights, Bingo and never met a restaurant she did not like. Among her favorite times were the trips to Disneyland and most memorable being the Holy land tour to Israel with Pastor Glen Cole and friends.Kelly Lee (Kathie) Matt McAdams, Jaclyn Mcadams, Jonathan Sandoval, Nicole Sandoval.

Marvelous Monday and Mom Continued
Yes, I am still away from home in Auburn with several family members now. Most importantly, Mom. One could say that I am gaining experiance in death. Why would one want to? Three now to my witness, and all of them unique. Is this how we decide how WE want to leave this world? By experiance? Sorry for all the questions. I am a curious one you know.
My Mother is in my Sisters family home. Her room is now lined floor to ceiling with family photos. There are flowers, balloons, a family bible, a book to read to her if you like. Photographs of her already passed Mother, brother, and grandson, sit clearly in her view. Her bed is draped with a handmade quilt that up until this week she fondled a lot.She wears a frilly V necked white gown, and a sparkling gold cross around her neck. Her hair is a bit deshevled, but fluffy and pretty. Her nails long, red and perfectly round. Family and friends come in and out to sit with her. Her daughters, husband and grands crawl in bed with her periodically taking turns loving her up.THIS, I'm sure brings her comfort.
Mom is very close to the balance of physical meets spiritual worlds now, and will pass at any time. She is in no pain and is quite peaceful. Responsive only a few times today, to tell one of us that she loves us. For me personally, just before this post, was to tell me with all the strength she could muster. "I'll be with you". Now this, has given me the same peace. Someone to take care of my James, and still be with me, is all the peace that I need tonight.
We'll be in touch.
Marvelous Monday's will be:
* A strong family
* A peaceful passing for Mom

My Siblings think I'm nutz. well... okay... but not about this. I trained them all in HA HA yoga while we were all being traumatized by Moms hospital stay. I tried to share with them a simple excercise to promote good spirit health. I DID THIS WITHOUT WINE!
So as you can see dear siblings, I'm NOT making this up! it works!
Long before it had any names, I have been self healing through laughter. Ya wanna quickie cheer up? Put in a comedy movie and LMAO.
No movie available? Make a face and LMAO!! Fake some Ha Ha's! (not to be confused with HO Ho's!)
Come on, it isnt rocket science right? If you are blue, would you grab a bottle of wine and stick in a Michael Bolton CD? Hell no! Not unless you want to dive deep into the PIT of blues.
Many people ask me how I "change the channels" on the videos in my mind. My heart. My broken broken heart...... It is laughter peoples. Sometimes, fake it til u make it.......laughter. Understand, I cannot Always accomplish my goal. Sometimes I go down and I cant get up for awhile. Yep, it happens.
Ahhh, something just occurred to me. I have given that to my crazy kids! Yes! They are all as nutty as I am! When the going gets tough, you can count on one of them to crack you up! One of Jamies favorite Youtubes is that old guy advertising for 6 Flags Theme park. Hysterical laughter we made watching him imitate this guy. He sent me new you tubes everytime they came out and as I watched, we chatted and laughed. I think the most sobersides of all would be Jake. He has his Dad's "prove it to me smile". He does, however, succumb to the laughter after awhile. It just isnt on the tip of his tongue as it is for the rest of us. Even Karens hubby, a total HAHA kinda guy. Now the grands?.. Yep, Aviana cheezz will start the whole HA HA in an instant. Justin too begins to dance like his Uncle and will make everyone laugh.Ok, so I'm all off track now.
I'm going to go laugh about something. Maybe it will stop the rain, or at least make it a tad bit more doable. My last good HAHA was watching "The Hangover". TWICE... LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO
PS: Look what I JUST did

M & M's On A Tuesday?
Why not? I was on a holiday yesterday? I was stuck on Facebook games? I was making soups to leave Walt next week?
Choose your own adventure says I..................
Mornin'. This should be interesting... clipboard on my right, coffee on my left, keyboard on my lap. Gitterdone says I..............
5 AM was an owie this morning. I woke up to a slight panic attack to finish cooking, make a list of To Do;s... and listening to Haiti news. Do you remember when I used to be forever glued to the news channels be it TV or Streaming Internet? I do too. Not so much now. I mean since we lost Jamie. Its not that it doesnt matter, its just not so all fire important as my own life. How selfish is that???????? grunt.
Mom is holding her own with Sis and family. She doesnt want anything but her bed. I need to be there. I am waiting on a few quilt jobs and then I'm off again. It is giving me time to make Walt a few dishes for the freezer. Today I will do the Italian sausage & tortellini soup.. last night Butternut squash soup and a rack of ribs. I should do some cookies eh? Im not sure he is doing well himself. One day he looks stronger, then the next I see weight loss and gauntness again. I swear to Buddha I live in constant fear of the death of another loved one. Its no way to live I tell you. They tell me its normal...pppffft. It isnt the kind of normal I seek. CLIC
Know whats a bit difficult in the past 2 years? Marvelous Monday posts! I know!! But having made the commitment to write them, I must try, and it MAKES me reflect on the weeks positiveness. Its hard!!! I can remember when I had to KEEP it down to 7 entries, and believe me, I struggle for that same 7 now. I must tell you that it helps. Something so simple minded actually helps. I hope that some of you people try it too.
Marvelous Mondays include:
* Being able to catch AI premiere for it made us all laugh and we needed that.( pants on the ground! LOL)
*Having the help of our big brother if only for a short time.
*A safe drive home and arriving before the storms hit.
*My kids & grands coming to be with us at grams side.
*Jake safely arriving back in Idaho working in the snow and ice.. omG please protect him.
*ONE underwear day, I'll take it!
*A wonderful shop to greet me as work resumes.
OK, I'm blogged up, coffee'd up and on my way to attack the clipboard. its 2 pages!!!! WTH???? I havent forgotten pictures to show you, its on the list, but a quilt awaits my attention!

Sunday, Official Underwear Day
So I am here, first cuppa in hand, feeling like a rag mop, wondering how in the world do I blog everything that has happened since I fell off the radar map. Lets see if we can find the beginning.........
Ah yes, the siblings were coming! They came, we had a VERY nice couple of days here at home. And then trouble was brewing at sis hometown ( Auburn) so we left. Here's where the blurr comes in. First let me say that as soon as we went over the hills leaving sunshine and heat for fog and scary trees, I KNEW we weren't in Kansas anymore. GRUNT. I have always intensely disliked the 3 months of YUK in the valley, but its always worse now when I travel back into it.
I had planned to have a great time with John, Sheena and Kelly, then do my bus Mom thing for Road to California. It didn't work out so well now did it? I had to cancel the trip, cancel the fun, cancel it all as our Mom fell very ill and has been in the hospital since last we chatted.
Mom has since been released to my sisters care to live out life's winter days as comfortable as possible. Her petite lil body can take no more of the cancer that is raging inside of her. Hmmm... while typing I have decided that I cannot do it.. I cannot even type it. I'm sure you can understand how its difficult for me to face a near repeat of the worst time of my life, so I wont push it here. No matter the way it happens, or to whom, it isn't an easy journey. I do find it most peculiar how I can look back through the years with Mom and smile about things. I guess a full life really is to be celebrated... I shall ponder this.
My sis and I talk a great deal about how we so enjoyed time with our brother, and wish that we had had many memories with him too. Not to whine about it, as we will make some now. However, it would have been nice. Why it always comes back to the hand of cards dealt to us, and how we play them, I'll never figure out.
Our Dad did well through the week and it was more than noticeable how he too enjoyed John & Sheena. I am not sure how much he understands about Mom, that sure wont be easy either.
I will be home for a few days, then travel back to Mom. I dont know how this will go down, so stay tuned? Its really been "Ground Hogs Day" for a week or so. Its good to be home in my own bed. Walt said that I looked a little different, and I cocked my head to one side to ask why.. then decided that I KNEW why. Our fur & feathered Kids sure missed me. Ginger has been on my lap and Rudy on my shoulder since I came in. I think I need a few more of em, what do you think? I WANNA Mini DOODLE!
I got to spend a few hours sharing a meal with my BFF Heather... geez I miss her already. She too is having a family crisis, tragedy, world rocking event. Their boy Josh is in the hospital battling Cystic Fibrosis and he needs lung transplants. My heart breaks for that family as memories creep past. Josh is so full of life and only 26. Please whisper his name in your prayers too.
Well thanks for the coffee chat peoples! I am going to go unload the trunk I have been living out of. I will keep ya posted, and try to find the camera for a few pics too.
Big thank yous to my caring blog readers who sent notes looking for me!!
Love yer guts!

Busy Week!
My siblings are coming! My siblings are coming! Yep yep yep.... Kelly will be joining me to motor over to Santa Barbara to pick up John & Sheena from Alaska! I have my clipboard and we are in for a busy week! I have included a Hearst Castle day, a beach night, and Mexican food night, and a wild poker game! I wish Mom was in on THAT one:) This will be the first time I get to meet our sis in law Sheena. I am looking forward to this! Boy, is she in for a treat as she is a fellow quilter! Oh wait! I know the REAL TREAT! 70 degrees here as opposed to Alaskan dark cold! Woohoo! I wish Blima would snowbird and get out of that Montreal freeze. ( Oh, I got off track there too eh?) We hope to have a lil spring break with them in April. As I said yesterday, I am MAKING PLANS to MAKE PLANS this year. Find my bliss and bliss will find me? Whatever works.
I dont have a picture on hand of brother, but if you will remember from 2 years ago blogabout, we just met him! Kelly and I both agree that its nice to have a big brother. I am in hopes of snapping a few this week for ya! It just occured to me that I didnt post a pic yesterday, Nor did I do a Marvelous Monday... bad blog girl:( .
I better move my butt.. I am putting on a pork roast for some Carnitas with Arbol chili.... and need to google the airport! BB soon.

2010 Pondering
The official new year begins when school resumes eh Moms? Now, I dont have school age kids, but I do have thier teacher! It makes me consider 2010. Its strange to even type that. I will be making plans throughout the year to keep myself focussed. There are so many things I would like to do it will be interesting to see which actually happened. Plans like getting to Montreal and a roadtrip with Blim... A family Christmas vacation untraditional. ( I know, shocker). MQS, Spring break, Oregon visit, adding a new family member, organizing photographs and fabrics..lol SO MANY THINGS! There is one I need more than anything, and I will begin next month.
I do not believe that I have properly grieved for the loss of my son. I need to work on that, for me, for mine. How might I do this you ask? Well.... Dragging out all of his clothes and making those quilts may be a good jumping off point. I have hauled them everywhere, covetting them as if I could be bringing him with me these last 2 years. Its not healthy the way I think, all to myself. Things that I see, hear, and even sometimes do. I wont get into my mentalness, but it has become clear to me that this woman needs more work. I NEED to get to a point where "they say" a smile comes with a mental memory of Jamie. Not tears, fears, and a plethera of emotions that rattle around inside me. This would scare anyone to read, so I will remain a bit evasive. Suffice to say that I see it, admit it, and will address it. I dont think that a family photo shoot in a cemetary would be a good idea, or happen anytime soon, so I will channel my thoughts in a different direction. I know that I have said this for nearly 2 years, and truth is, I will continue to say until it works! I shared with a friend that the last 2 years has seemed like some kind of purgatory of my own. Or 2 years of hell, masked by the tears of a clown.
There hasnt been a book, a song, a prayer, a chat, not a damn thing to get me through this. Is it because I havent done it myself? But I have! I have reached out, grabbed onto, changed things up, done all humanly possible, and still I have no peace. This Im sure you know isnt too good for a happy ass person that I USED to be!
I have no idea why I am rambling on this morning. Good coffee? Alone with thoughts? Heels of yet another horrid dream? ( yes, they are still here). I am still hopeful, optimistic, and will forge on. You poor blog readers who endure...lol thanks for listening, and when you ask me, I will say that I really AM OKAY. Okay? Maybe the quilt constructing will do the trick.

Where Are Those Girls?
Day 3, Battle # 1.. it was bound to happen. We had a rule breaking drama over the treasure chest and they both hid from me bawling thier lil eyes out. Short lived, as I found them hiding in the cut table cabinet in the shop.. smiling faces again. I suppose I wasnt too hard on them afterall eh?
I swear looking at this Mini Me is indeed an aged old mirror. Cept maybe Aviana is prettier than Nonni.

Chicken & Pasta Risotto Style
Would you like to put a BAM in your otherwise bland pasta? You never tasted your pasta until you cook it without water! It becomes creamy and rich without added calories of cream. Its a bit time consuming given the fact that you babysit it while it cooks, but well worth the effort. The kids love it too, especially if you change from a Penne to a rotelle to make it fun!
When ya cant quilt, play with food!
TIP: This can be a meatless side dish if you prefer. Feel free to play with different ingredients as its the pasta that steals the show.
2 TBLSP Olive Oil, or a little more as needed
1 small onion chopped
1 TBLSP minced garlic
2 cups of crimini, shitake, baby bello, or buttom mushrooms trimmed and sliced
1/2 lb cut pasta like penne
1/2 dry white wine ( or water if u like, but why?)
3-4 cups chicken broth
2 chicken thighs ( or breasts) bite sized diced
salt & pepper
Chopped Italian parsley
Fresh grated Parm cheese
Put olive oil into a deep skillet over medium heat. add onion, garlic and mushrooms and cook until mushrooms soften and begin to brown on edges. Stirring occasionally ( 10 min)
Add pasta and stir until glossy and coated with oil. ( 2-3 min). Add salt & pepper and wine. Stir and let liquid bubble away.
Ladle broth into skillet 1/2 cup at a time, stirring after every entry, a minute or so. When liquid is just about evaporated, add another 1/2 cup, repeat. Mixture should be neither soupy, nor dry. Keep your heat at a constant medium and stir frequently.
Begin tasting pasta about 10 minutes in. You are looking for tender, but al dente, to the tooth crunch:) When pasta is on its last liquid addition, add chicken pieces and cook until white inside when cut ( 3-4 min)
Adjust seasonings, garnish with parsley, and serve with cheese.
Manja!

The Bee/M & M's
First let me say that we have our Grand Aviana and her bff Kendall over for the week. YES, during shop erecting. But they help...LOL When they arrived, much to Avi's distaste Pappa made a "smelly" comment about her "BEE". Avi's BEE is her woobie blanket of 4 years. Its so old now that it has taken on a life of its own and talks to her. YEP YEP YEP... they have entire conversations together. The BEE has had many operations and washings, however, its still ...ahhh...ahhh smelly? No matter, its still a very huge part of Avi's daily life, and no one has the right to touch, wash, or call it names. Bad move Pappa. So he set out to build trust immedietly. They worked in the shop together and swept floors, and he then decided to wash HIS OWN BEE. ( yes, he has a very big tye dyed quilted BEE) He allowed Aviana to do all the buttons on the washer, add soaps and Downey.. then told her that she might be able to do HER BEE tomorrow. She was quite hesitant, but thrilled to be doing the wash. They folded Pappas Big Bee and she saw that it wasnt eaten by the machines at all.
First thing this morning Avi asked me if she could wash her BEE. I nearly passed out. She told me that she wanted to surprise Pappa after work. ( I guess his plan worked yeh?) We loaded up the BEE and put in good smells, pushed all the buttons, and she called out to it saying." bye bye BEE, I love you!" Now you would think all is fine right? Nope. As you can see, she refuses to leave the side of her beloved BEE in the wash. She reswept and remopped the floor. She danced and played in the shop until her patience wore thin. Pictured here is Avi eating a snack while we are on the rinse cycle. I cant get her out of the shop! LOL I suppose she will be taking her lunch out there as it isnt ready yet. grunt.
It's pouring rain today and projected for the week. I am trying to think up rainy day activities as we type. I know any minute now they will be bored and whining. I cant sew yet as the shops still packed tightly. Speaking of the shop, the ceiling, walls , and floor is fantastic! ( can you see some of it?) The ceiling off white, the walls, whisper yellow, the cabinets melted butter, and the floor Brazillian Cherry plank laminate. Walt is really BOB THE BUILDER I tell you. I am so thrilled that his health is even better than I expected. It's incredible to think about a few months ago he was so very ill. Just incredible. I am so very thankful for this.
Marvelous Monday's include
*Walts recovery and his Bob Villa talent:)
*My new shop being up and coming!
* My Aviana and her Bff to entertain her! lol
* Great non picky eaters!
*Princess bed for a princess
*a doubled headed shower... omg I love that!
* Visiting, if only shortly with my daughter.

Shoe Chuckers
I woke up to yet another news tickle of a shoe chucker. Remember when President Bush got nailed? This time a reporter got it from a man defending US troops in Afghanistan. Now while this makes news (read: shocking news, looks of disbelief) I have been chucking shoes since I was quite young. I have no idea where this idea came from.. but its so effective! Look, its not a weapon, but it sure drives home your distaste in the actions of whoever is on the receiving end of the chucked shoe! Almost in embarrassment I am sitting here cracking up just remembering a store trip to Mervyns, all kids in tow and my James and Jake in the clothes rounders at least 20 feet away from me. I caught a glimpse of wiggling sweaters, and in a deep voice called out BOYS! Their little bodies popped out of the sweaters and a shoe was chucked. Now miraculously they knew to bring the shoe back and not make a sound doing it.... lol How? Effective I tell you! Damn I wish I had more than a mental picture to show you. I so love pictures.... James and his big blue remorseful eyes. Jake sheepishly hiding behind his sister. Lord how we miss him. I would give anything to chuck a shoe at him, no... watch him chuck a shoe at a boy of his own. Hmmmm I wonder if that sounds mean? Over disciplining.... Ya never know these days whats acceptable or not eh? One acquaintance of mine thinks telling her child NO is violent.... Glad not to be a young Mom right now. I may go to jail for being a shoe chucker.
Hey, on another note, anyone pick up the new John Mayer CD? Its soooooo worth it!!! Highlights: Heartbreak Warfare, The War Of My Life, on and on... I tell u this young man can write!
I'm off for a doctor appt.. have a good Humpday:)

Sirloin Tips Made Easily
This should go on one of those 30 minute meals eh? My sis originally sent it from a favorite magazine, and I tweeked it to my own tastes. Its a wonderful run to when I have left over rib eye steaks or Tri tip. In fact, I dont believe I have ever planned this meal and bought specific ingredients for it! It got me to thinking the other day when Judy was wondering what to do with LO roasta Beef:) So last night, while I had a shop being walled, I played with gravy, and it was delish!
I think..................this smallish kitchen requires lotsa 30 minute meals!
TIP: I have a lil ingredient in my pantry that is a staple( in addition to wine, of course) and used when I like to change the color of stews, gravies, etc. "Kitchen Bouquet". It was yet another one of my Mama's secrets she didnt tell me about until my 30's! No msg, good flavor, and a perfect rich brown color. Its found in the spice section and used by chefs everywhere! If you try it, remember that less, is more.)
Sirloin Tips In Wine Sauce:
Serves 2-4
2 Tbls. all-purpose flour
1/8 Tsp. ground mustard
1 lb. boneless beef top sirloin steak, thinly sliced or cubed (or left over steaks!)
2 Tbls. butter ( PLZ dont use margarine, I'll smell it from over here!)
1 1/2 cups beef broth
1/2 cup dry red wine
1 cup sliced mushrooms ( your choice, button or baby bellos)
1/2 cup chopped green onions
1 Tsp. worcestershire sauce
Hot cooked linguine, fettucini or any egg noodles
In a large Zip Loc bag, combine the flour and mustard. Add beef, a few pieces at a time, and shake to coat. In a large skillet, brown beef in butter. Add mushrooms, cook down a little. Add wine and cook down again. Add broth Stir in the onions and worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 10-15 minutes or until sauce is thickened. ( At this point it will be a caramel color. You can change to dark brown with kitchen bouquet if you like)Serve over linguine. If you like you can sprinkle a little more diced green onion shafts on top, but if you serve with a green vegetable, no need:)

Studio Number Four
I think they just keep getting better! Today is day one. Sheet rock/insulation, warm it up day! Soon I will be back to work! Yippee!! This shop will be about 21x24. Considerably larger than the B & B shop, but a tad bit smaller than Morro Bay. Greta is covered and secured with all the damn boxes brought into the house until the work is done. Wont be long now says I! Walt is getting stronger but has hired out the heavy work. (thank God). As I always say... one winning lottery ticket is what it takes...grunt. I see Walts head spinning for super cool design walls and things and I just see dollar signs.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like....
Home now! LOL :::: U KNOW u were singing Christmas weren't you?:::::
TGIF DearBlog Readers.. I am still buried in boxes however things are shaping up! I had a great time at Karens Graduation and pictures are in the capable Heather hands soon to come:) My Grands are growing at an alarming rate of speed and I wish they would slow down...(much like my laugh lines) I also spent time with parents, and sis and I staged a mock Thanksgiving with them since I wont be there, I'll be here! Bottom line: Much needed Heart Food. I did come home with a head cold.. go figure. I NEVER come home without some bug eh? I am so on germ warfare here, and STILL I get stuff. Maybe I should change my vitamins? Ok, what else is going on? Well, I still cant find some things like WINE GLASSES.... can openers and favorite knives. But I do have other boxes being made for a dang yard sale! I am so close to calling that HOARDERS show and telling them to bring a camera over here!
What else is going on round here? Oh! We had no internet, tv, or phone for a few frustrating days and we LIVE to tell about it! Imagine that!!! It has actually spawned a good thing. playing cards, looking at each other, and dare I say??? TALKING! I used to practice family night when the kids were growing. Games only. We have always had dinner round the table together, but then everyone split to do whatever....... I think I will dissconnect stuff once a week...lol. It makes me happy.. God knows I should do things to make me happy! sheesh!
I have a houseful coming next week, and I am nowhere near equipped for that YET. I am in hopes that the shop can go together with helpers. I'll bribe them with food:::wink::
I should get to work! Boxes are calling me and today..........I SHALL FIND THE WINE GLASSES! ( altho the juice glasses arent bad?)
PS: Anyone else getting a bang out of that commercial with the nekked turkey running through the store? ROFL>>> I think its a chicken broth ad.. not sure... which is funny too!

The Heart Of Life Still Good
It was a drunk driving accident. My James was only 26. Just horrid. A young life, no wife or children yet. A manager of Sprint cell phone stores. He loved to fish, and all outdoor sports really. His best friends were his dog "Dakota" and his brothers. He was best friend to all, and they all couldnt wait to tell me this. He adored his family and desperatley wanted one of his own. He was kind and sensitive, and loved his Mother ( & Father) very much.
I am forever changed and heartbroken. I truly believe that I have yet to find Gina anywhere that I look yet. I do find comfort in my art, and in the constant support network of friends, family, colleagues and customers, children, grands, and hubby. God knows this sustains me through an otherwise nightmare of a life. I wait patiently for peace, while I continue to live and ask why. One of the most often questions I ask is WHEN will the feeling of the other shoe dropping will subside. I want to scream "PLEASE do not take anyone else I love, PLEASE!"
Now you may be wondering why I am saying all of this today. Well....beyond the STILL incoming email questions that I get asking WHY.....
I am attending my daughters college graduation tomorrow. Its been a long road but she has finally become the nurse she has always wanted to be. I am so very proud of her as she is the FIRST college Graduate in my family on either side. Karen has always had what it takes to succeed in whatever she sets out to do. I dunno where she gets this from:::wink:::
I will proudly shed tears through smiles while still living vicariously through her! That cap and gown picture will hang in a predominant place in this home as a constant reminder that I helped to make that...lol
Also, I will see my grands, bring them dresses, sweaters, kisses oh my... and take comfort in all of this, for the heart of life is still good. Since most of the family will be in attendance, I am hopeful that Jamie will be too. I'll save a seat for him.
Look for blogabout next week of her beautiful smile, and mine:)
As always dear blog readers, thanks for the vent:)

Not Moving Monday
The rocker recliner, Advil, coffee, and a list pad are my Monday Buddies. You knew that was coming right? A woman's got to know her limitations! I think I will take it easy today and try to re-coop a bit. I really think I am stronger than I am and hefting furniture and boxes seems fine, UNTIL the pain hits?
Major progress this week end was made. It's beginning to look like a home as opposed to a warehouse or estate sale. It's just nuts how much stuff we have accumulated and haul around! One thing I have noticed is that we doubled up on many items for 2 story home.. now we are back to one. ( Thank God!) The serious sense of urgency is weird I tell you. Maybe its because I am missing out on Christmas Quilting which is always fun. Or maybe because I must travel to the valley for Karen's Graduation ceremony? I'm so very proud of my daughter. She has worked her tail off sacrificing much to achieve this goal. I will begin hunting down the perfect high paying job for her on the central coast so they can relocate before its too late. I know all too well how your heels get dug in raising your family, educating your children, and you just get stuck in a place you really don't want to be. I miss them on a daily basis. Avi called yesterday to tell me about a movie she was watching with her lil friend. I wonder if she knows how much I love that?
Okay dear blog readers, I am off to make those lists and hopefully feel strong enough to hunt down those damn dishes! Have a Marvelous Monday, and I will too!
**Reminder**
The journey is everything, in everything give thanks.
MM's include
*The contents of my curio, may it always go where I go
*the steady return of Walt's health
*every store I need within a 5 mile radius
*80 degrees in November
* A beautiful home, just my size
*My lil sis always checking on me, times do change eh?
* Aviana's phone calls and candid photos

Moving Isnt For Me. Grunt
Two smallish goose eggs, one cut/broken middle toe, one smashed big toe, one knee football sized, so sore from top to bottom. Thats the move update so far. OMGoodness. At what point does one say they are too flippin old to do this? Here's what I think.... At 40 I declared no more tent camping, dirt sweeping, campfire cooking.... RVing only allowed for me now. At 50, I shall declare no more packing, unpacking, moving boxes, hefting furniture, building sheds, erecting shelves, and the like. PERIOD. Thats all I have to say about that. OUCH.
The rae of sunshine is that it is beautiful here. The sun comes up over the back fence illuminating the rolling hills of Arroyo Grande. Our coffee tastes so wonderful sitting under the finger palm trees watching this sight unfold. While its true all around us is organized chaos, it just doesnt matter much at all. At that very moment, for a few mornings in a row now, all that does matter is the feeling of hope for the future.
I am having to take more breaks this morning due to pain all over the place. SO I thought I'd come chat with you. I should be cleaning the kitchen as I cant get in there right now. We have gone from a commercial kitchen, maybe the size of a small house, to a U shaped space of a large bathroom...LOL. Wait a minute, thats not really very funny. Grunt. No matter, I'll figure it out. As long as I can always get to the coffee pot, who cares? I DO think my studio will share with kitchen items as they just wont fit in here. As the men were bringing in box after box marked kitchen we all laughed because they would look at me and say "Senora~, Mas Cucina?" Rofl, the room was filled floor to ceiling and no more could go in there. Consequently, The shop has rows of boxes, and nope... I have yet to find my good dishes. grunt. Ginger and I did the happy dance to find the can opener for her!
Walt has been outside since about 5 am...lol I dont think I will get him in here, but I'm glad he likes it out there too. Maybe it will aid in his recovery. He and I finished up the Pickford yesterday and hung the CLOSED sign on the front doors. We will make one more trip, pass through if you will, to make sure all is well.
Eight months of ....wow I dont even have the words to label those 8 months.... what a ride.
I should get back to it. I hope all is well with all of you. Happy Sunday.
Love yer guts, G

Begin Again
Good morning. I was thinking.:::rut ro:::When trying so hard to figure this all out. Maybe... just maybe we have been on an 18 month whirlwind tornado ride since the untimely death of my boy. Moving around, searching, hoping, trying to find answers or my way in life. Maybe its true what they say that after such a horrid experiance, one should never do anything RASH for at least 2 years? Living proof am I....hmmmmm
OK, so, we are home in AG and while the both of us are tired, sore, overwhelmed, flat ass broke, and in the biggest mess we have EVER seen, it feels right, good, and a huge sense of relief.Making breakfast consisted of 2 bagels, a lunchpail in my jammies hair flying. ( I know many of you GET that visual). No matter the mess, it is good. Now that I have my pals in the boxes ( computer & TV) What could be bad? Nuttin.
I am off to make a path between boxes... I'll be back soon, maybe I will find a camera?

On The Move--->
And now a new countdown. I have miraculously finished all quilts (save one Christmas quilt) before the poor shop breakdown. Bittersweet I might add. I am so very happy to go, yet in fear of another move and my Greta being out of "sync" with me. You see... I had the greatest opportunity to have Jack Boersma ( Boersma Sewing in Oregon) come to visit and install my new fanfreakingtastic light bar and tweak Greta into a sweet spot that I have NEVER had before. I watched this man work some magic with a mallet on her..... in horror, only to have him call me over and say, "Ok, touch with one finger". I did this and I swear I heard Angels and harps. Since that day I have not had ONE tension issue, balance issue, level issue.. NO ISSUES. THIS, dear blog readers, is indeed miraculous! I haven't so much as bumped her nor sat a tool on her in fear I would mess her up! Now.... She's going for another ride. RUT RO. I don't think Jack would make the trip again, not even for ANOTHER arm and a leg. So, it falls to us to be ever so careful, and we will, BUT.
Prayer parrot post it note: Please Dear Father keep us all safe, including Greta, with lots of helpers, and help me to never move again. Well, unless you want me to, but I don't. Period.
Rudy is being a super pain in behind chicken as he senses things have gone nuts and is screeching each time one of his flock members leaves his side. Walt is being so good about giving him treats, but u cant fool a grey eh? He knows... good thing that he is adaptable. Ginger is sniffing boxes in search of her toys even though we left a few out for her. I guess they aren't the right ones?
Walt is gaining strength daily, thank God. He even showed me a muscle last night... cute lil skinny muscle it was too. He is becoming focused on the impending move, and I think he too has found a little hope.
The kids are darn near oblivious to whats going on as Karen is about to graduate into a full fledged nurse ( Nov 14) and Jake has opened his own business way over in Idaho. Julie has been to help with Dad a few times and wow was that ever needed. I wish they would come a runnin in the next few weeks huh? But I know they cant... :::big sigh:::
The quilters back in Pismo are so excited that hugs are a plenty when I appear. I love that. I love my "chosen" profession. Gemme hugs I tell ya... ( ok, and money)
I don't know how long I will be Internet challenged so I will be relying on my blackberry for emails and the like. Wish us luck, and I'll be back ASAP. I cant wait to see my dishes again, its been 8 months! ( its the little things u know) Love yer guts!

Monday Rambling Over Coffee
I think I should take up dog grooming. Poor Ginny looks like that furry bear on sesame street all the time. The good news is I will be going home and THATS where her forever groomer is! So maybe I wont. Good Monday morning dear blog followers. I am sorry I havent been diligent about writing. I could say that I have been busy, and its true, but I done told ya and told ya about my feelings on bummer blogabouts. I still hang on Perpetual Hope, and the tune from ANNIE. ROFL.
We have been busy looking for furniture on craigs list because if you can remember, when we moved here we had to downsize quite a bit to fit into the quarters. THIS, dear peoples, is no easy task, especially without a pick up truck! I have learned a few things.... ya cant trust peoples on craigs list to honor a "DEAL". Ya cant put a 6 foot dresser in the back of a convertable with the top down and go 60 miles an hour. :::u know u got a visual::: ( rut ro)
I tried very hard to win that Mega Million 200 million.. can u even BELIEVE that there was ONE WINNER IN VIRGINIA? Lucky bugger. I'm next. Mama needs some new fall boots dang it! OK, maybe just a washer/dryer. After I saw the boots to drool for, I found all my lil girls Christmas party dresses and had to have them, so there went one night stand eh....grunt. Again, I'm next.
I better move my butt... I have a huge list to make and attack. Thanks for the Java, Have a M M!
